IAS officer’s death: Forensic team reconstructs incident

-

LUCKNOW: A team of the state forensic science laboratory on Saturday reconstructed the scene wherein 2007 batch Karnataka cadre IAS officer, Anurag Tiwari (36), was found lying dead near the state guest house. The exercise revealed that Tiwari lay almost in the middle of the road, exactly at a distance of 194 ft from the main entrance of the state guest house on Meera Bai Marg in Hazratganj on Wednesday morning. His body was lying upside down in sleeping position with his right hand below his head.

The FSL team was led by its joint director SK Rawat. The forensic experts were called by the special investigation team (SIT) to help them solve the mystery behind Tiwari’s death. The SIT, comprising Hazratganj circle officer Avinish Mishra and four police inspectors has to submit its findings by Sunday.

The forensic experts reconstructed the scene by placing the dummy on the spot where Tiwari was found lying dead. A police constable, Harveer Singh Yadav, who first reached the spot after getting a call from a passer-by about a man lying on the road, assisted the experts in their task.

Yadav told the experts that the officer’s body was lying as if he was moving away from the guest house when he died. He said that the officer was lying in a sleeping position with his head down. His face was plastered with blood when he was turned and thereafter taken to the civil hospital where he was declared brought dead. The experts tried to find out how Tiwari reached the spot where he was found dead. They also examined room number 19 of the state guest house where the officer, along with batch mate Prabhu Narain Singh, presently posted as vice chairman of Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), was staying for the past three days.

Earlier, the SIT also examined the CCTV footage collected from a Hazratganj restaurant where the deceased reportedly had his last meal along with some senior officers on Tuesday night. A cop said the video footage showed that Tiwari was accompanied only by his batch mate. He said the duo stayed for around 40 minutes during which they had some snacks and left. The SIT will further quiz Prabhu Narain Singh to know more facts about the entire sequence.

SSP Deepak Kumar said the forensic experts had closely examined everything and they would revisit the spot on Sunday before jumping to any final conclusion.

To recall, IAS officer Anurag Tiwari was found dead under mysterious circumstances on his birthday near the state guest house. A resident of Bahraich, Tiwari was the commissioner of food civil supplies and consumer affairs department in Bengaluru. Tiwari and Singh had come to Lucknow after attending a mid career training programme at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie a few days ago.
