‘No such thing as secured prosperity’

LUCKNOW: There was no such thing as ‘secured prosperity’ in life and frugality gave the biggest lessons of life, said Arokiaswamy Velumani, chairman, Thyrocare Technologies Limited.

Velumani was in Lucknow on Saturday at an event organised by the CII to deliver an inspirational speech.

Velumani has built the Thyrocare from a scratch with a capital of just Rs 2 lakh, which was his provident fund money. He resigned from a secured government job to start a business.

In the inspirational session, Velumani shared his personal experiences and cited interesting instances from his life.

He also stressed on the fact that decision making played a vital role in life and was very important for success.

“There is no such thing as right decision and there is also no such thing as right job,” he said.

“Take a decision and make it right. Take a job and make it a right job,” he said .

To entrepreneurs present in the gathering, Velumani said: “First focus on the business you want to do and then ‘romance with the risk’.”

He advised parents not to pamper children if they wanted them to be successful in life.

Velumani credits his success to his wife, whom he did not want to marry. She died of pancreatic cancer on February 13, 2016.

Velumani was born in 1959 to a small farmer in village Appanaickenpatti Pudur, about 26 km from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Hardships in life also proved to be a teacher for Velumani, who at present owns a ₹3,300 crore company.
