Maya attacks Yogi govt on law, order

-

Targeting the Yogi Adityanath government on rising incidents of crime in UP, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Saturday alleged that it had failed on the law and order front. Citing some recent incidents like the one in Saharanpur where a Muslim man was killed and murders of two traders in Mathura, the former CM asked, “Is it this change that the BJP had promised in UP?”

Mayawati’s attack on the government came on a day when the UP police worked out the sensational robbery and killings in Mathura by arresting five assailants including the main accused.

“There has been no let-up in crime in the state ever since the BJP government came to power. In fact, caste clashes and political vendetta has increased,” she alleged in a press release.

The BSP leader, whose party finished a shocking third in the 2017 UP polls said, “Traders considered to be the BJP’s core voters have been among the worst hit due to spurt in crime. That is why they are now organising bandhs against incidents like Saharanpur and Mathura.”

“Poor power supply is also causing immense problems for the people who are being cane charged for protesting against it. But the government appears oblivious to all this and is busy making tall claims and patting its own back,” she alleged.

“Criminals only understand the power of law and for that tall claims are not required. What is required is steely resolve that this government hasn’t been able to show. Things have come to such a pass that even police officers are being assaulted. Most cases of crime, caste and communal clashes appear to be a conspiracy by BJP and company,” she added.
