No MI batsman in top five shows team effort: Rohit

-

Indians skipper Rohit Sharma praised his teammates for the fantastic effort shown to reach the final of 2017 Indian Premier League final.

Mumbai Indians beat Kolkata Knight Riders by six wickets in the Qualifier 2 on Friday.

Put in to bat after Mumbai Indians won the toss, Kolkata Knight Riders could only manage 107 all out in 18.5 overs. Jasprit Bumrah (3/7) and Man-of-theMatch Karn Sharma (4/16) got the majority of the dismissals for the Mumbai Indians. While Rohit Sharma (26 runs from 24 balls) and Krunal Pandya (45* runs from 30 balls) successfully put on a 54-run partnership to complete the chase, the Mumbai Indians captain credited the all-around teamwork for the win. “We have been really working hard. We don’t shy away from going into the finals the hard way. Today was the perfect day. Gives you a lot of confidence,” Rohit said after the Qualifier 2 match on Friday. “Bowlers set the day for us. Taking wickets at regular intervals and keeping the score under control.” Nitish Rana had started the season brightly with the bat for Mumbai Indians but lost the momentum as the season progressed. Parthiv Patel is currently the top run-getter in the team with 391 runs and ranks eighth in the race for orange cap. Rohit said all the players have contributed. “That’s been the hallmark of this team, we’re not dependent on one individual. In the top five, we don’t have any batsman. Shows a team effort,” Rohit said. “It’s not me, something we have been talking about. I just go and execute what I’ve been told. I rely on my gut feeling as well. It’s very necessary to keep changing.”
