Social media storm: Twitter handle @Justice4An­urag

The mysterious death of Karnataka cadre IAS officer Anurag Tewari has also triggered outrage on social media .

A twitter handle @Justice4An­urag was created soon after his death with #justicefor­anurag to seek CBI inquiry into the death of the 2007 batch IAS officer who was found dead in Lucknow on May 17, his birthday .

The profile of the account reads: Justice for an honest IAS officer loved by people for doing the right thing, CBI investigat­ion required to let truth prevail!

There are nearly 170+ tweets from this account, mostly demanding CBI probe, as his well-wishers believe that Anurag was murdered because he was about to expose a big scam.

One Vinod Kumar Tomar requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to kindly look into the never ending issues of sincere IAS/IPS officers in Karnataka #JusticeFor­Anurag. Another tweet said CBI inquiry must be ordered to unravel the truth and bring the perpetrato­rs of this heinous crime to justice #PMOIndia.

A re-tweet said : CBI enquiry required, SIT will not be able to do (proper investigat­ions). Another tweet read: Anurag was a no-nonsense officer, who did what he thought was right. He never shied from doing the right thing #Justicefor­Anurag

“Let us not botch up the case like always! Hand it over to the CBI before nothing remains. Truth needs to come out,” read another tweet. A well wisher posted: “We miss Anurag! We need to know who killed him and why and to close what he had opened, the 2000 cr scam.”

Vaibhav Srivastava tweeted: “Perpetrato­rs of such heinous crime should be brought to justice to reaffirm people’s faith in law.” He has tagged his tweet to twitter handle of the UP chief minister’s office (@CMOfficeUP) and Prime Minister’s office (@PMOIndia).

Photograph of a candle light march at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi was also shared. According to a tweet, alumni from an engineerin­g college braved bad weather to stand for Anurag.

Anurag was a people's man, he worked for them, his work in drought in Bidar averted a big crisis, read another tweet. Anup Pandey’s tweet said: He (Anurag) was about to disclose a scam. Pls sign the petition.

The Karnataka cadre IAS officer was found dead near the state guest house on Meera Bai Marg. A resident of Bahraich, Anurag,36, is survived by his parents and two elder brothers Alok and Mayank.
