Govt help promised to boost food processing
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath wants at least four mega food parks in four regions of Uttar Pradesh to stop post-harvest losses and double the income of farmers by 2022.
India records post-harvest losses to the tune of Rs1 lakh crore. Besides, he also wants clusters of food processing industry in various parts of state.
The CM was speaking during a programme organised at a city hotel on the occasion of road show for World Food India 2017 programme to be held at Delhi from November 3-5.
During his address, Adityanath promised full cooperation from the state government in setting up industries and attracting FDI in food processing Industry.
The state is coming out with a new policy for industrial development under which investments would be cleared from a single window.
Adityanath said when he was MP from Gorakhpur, he got a food park sanctioned from the centre for his constituency but the previous state government put up so many hindrances that the project was shelved.
Union minister of state for food processing industries Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti said the Centre had increased the allotment of funds for UP from r 500 crore to 800 crore. She said as soon as the proposals for setting up food parks came her way she would be giving all her support for the same.
Speaking on the occasion, deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya asked the investors to invest in regions of eastern UP, Bundelkhand instead of NOIDA as there were already many industries there.
Minister of Industrial development Satish Mahna also promised all the help to the food processing sector.
