SIT to probe road construction in Agra

:Deputy chief minister and in-charge of PWD department Keshav Maurya has ordered a probe to be conducted by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) against a construction agency for fraudulently procuring work contracts for construction of roads in Agra.

Additional chief secretary, PWD, Sadakant in a letter to director general of police UP has sought formation of an SIT to investigate cases registered against Prabhat Singh of Ms US Construction for furnishing fake FDRs with tenders to bag road contracts.

“The firm bagged several such road building contracts similarly in Etah, Kasganj, Firozabad and various other development blocks in Agra Division,” Sadakant said.

The decision to constitute the SIT was taken by deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya after holding a meeting with senior PWD officials here on Monday.

He said engineer in-chief (development) and head of the department PWD, VK Singh had registered FIR against M/S US Construction and Prabhat Singh on May 20, copies of which were being sent for further investigation by SIT to the DGP office.
