Three days after former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav made an attack on the state government, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday criticized the opposition for the same in the Vidhan Parisahd on the last day of its session. The CM said his government’s only two months’ tenure was outperforming all the tenures put together of the opposition parties.

He said his government was acting without bias to anyone but some people were demanding an account of his government’s work as if it had been in government for 100 years.

Turning to Akhilesh Yadav who represents the Upper House, the CM said it was his government’s achievement that it saw former chief minister in the house twice during its very first session.

“Please keep coming here to share your experiences. It will benefit us,” he told Yadav adding the ex-CM had hardly attended the house even once during his five-year tenure as chief minister.

Adityanath said his government was committed to providing security to each and every citizen and would do development of the state without any partiality.

He said his government had inherited a ‘collapsed system’ in legacy but was trying its best to fix things.

Raising a question over the previous governments’ work, the CM wanted to know who was responsible for farmers’ suicide because of debt and poverty. The earlier governments, he said, could not escape their responsibility.

“Our very first cabinet decided to write off all the crops loans of small and medium farmers up to March 31, 2016. We have fixed the maximum limit of Rs one lakh which will put an additional burden of Rs 36,000 crore on the exchequer,” the CM pointed out.

Referring to corruption in the mining sector during the previous government, he said his government was coming up with a new mining policy which would not only put an end to corruption in allotment of mining contracts but also increase government’s revenue seven times.

On illegal meat trade, he said his government ensured closure of all the illegal slaughterhouses in the state within 24 hours of coming to power. “This government means rule of law and we will purge UP of mafia raj,” he claimed.

Akhilesh Yadav on Friday had launched a scathing attack on the government while participating in a debate over governor’s address in the Upper House.

On Monday, also he alleged that the government had lagged behind on law and order front. He recounted his government’s achievement during its five-year tenure.

Earlier, the opposition also created uproar and even staged walkout twice over law and order.

Leader of the house and deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma requested members of all the parties to withdraw amendments as suggested by them to the governor’s address, after which the house was adjourned sine die.
