Central Info Commission pulls up Lok Sabha CPIO

-

The Central Information Commission (CIC) has pulled up the Lok Sabha secretariat central public information officer (CPIO)for replying to a Right to Information (RTI) query filed by an Allahabad man in English despite having received the application in Hindi.

Instead of providing written information, the Lok Sabha secretariat central public information officer (CPIO) advised the appellant to visit the Lok Sabha website for satisfying his queries. Noting some other gaffes too in the reply, a show cause notice has been issued to the secretariat by CIC. Parwaz Ulum Azmi, who is striving for promotion of Urdu language, had filed an RTI application on March 10, 2015 seeking information on whether any time limit has been fixed by Lok Sabha secretariat to dispose of grievances received from general public or any memorandum received from any other office in this regard. The appellant filed the first appeal on May 9, 2015 with the first appellate authority.
