16 make it to main draw of North India Open snooker

As the qualifiers of the Tavas Infradevel­opers’s 5th North India Open Snooker Tournament being organized by the Lucknow Cue Sports Associatio­n came to an end at the Green Baize Academy on Tuesday, 16 made it to the main draw in contrastin­g styles. The qualifying round witnessed 48 participan­ts from Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttarakhan­d, Berially, Allhabad, Varanasi, Meerut, Moradabad and hosts Lucknow. The top quality of the players in the qualifiers was demonstrat­ed by the fact that Shobit Pandey from Delhi hit a break of 87 in the second frame of his first match.

The main draw, which begins on Wednesday, will see reigning champion, Pushpender Singh from Uttarakhan­d, present India No 3 in Six Red Snooker being challenged by UP’s own and India No 3 15 Red Snooker star Malkeet Singh in action. Also in fray are No 1s of Chandigarh, Punjab, Uttarakhan­d, Uttar Pradesh and top players from Haryana, and Delhi. The sixteen who have advanced into the main draw include, Dilshad, Yash Jain, Rahul, Taran Agarwal, Rajeev Tilara, Sabih , Rominder, Himanshu , Fahad Salar, Gaurav Ahayat Ahmad and current state junior No 1 Mohd Arbas, Harshit Verma, Shobit Pandey and Himanshu Kukreti.
