LUCKNOW : The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS), may send its fact finding committee to the violence-hit Saharanpur district to find the truth behind the clashes there.

The Saharanpur incident will also come up for discussion at the ABVP’s national executive committee that begins in Lucknow on May 28, ABVP national general secretary Vinay Bidre told reporters here on Friday.

He said, “It was a political clash that is being described as violence between two castes. Our fact-finding committee will submit a neutral report. The student wing will act on the basis of that.”

He also said the ABVP was a student body, independent of any political party.

“Today, we are not just a student union, we’ve turned into an ideology,” he said.

Bidre said it was wrong to blame the Yogi Adityanath government for law and order issues as it had come to power only two months ago.

The ABVP will also take up the issue of alleged anti-national activity at the Jawaharlal Nehru University. “The student leaders belonging to Left parties were exposed in recent developments,” he said.

The ABVP would also take stock of radicalisation of youths from the Kashmir Valley. The Lucknow meet will be addressed by ABVP president Nagesh Thakur.
