Lucknow metro gets ISO 14001:2004 cert
:The Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) added another feather in its cap on World Environment Day as it bagged the International Organisation for Standardization (ISO) 14001: 2004 & the Occupational Health & Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) 18001: 2007 certificates in recognition of its integrated management system which complies with the ISO & OHSAS standards and requirements.
The scope of activities covered by these certificates includes the civil construction works of all the eight Metro stations and the Transport Nagar metro depot for the ‘priority corridor’. ISO 14001 is an environmental management system (EMS) which provides a structure for measuring and improving an organisation’s environmental impact while OHSAS 18001 is an Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) which provides a system for measuring and improving an organisation’s health and safety impact.
Ankur Sanga, director (India), United Registrar of Systems (URS) gave the certificates to LMRC managing director Kumar Keshav on Monday.
Keshav said, “The URS certification is accredited by internationally United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS). It is a very proud moment for the whole LMRC team that our environmental friendly green initiatives have beenrecognised by such international agencies”.
Earlier , the M D, all other directors, officers and staff of Lucknow Metro participated in a plantation drive on the Transport Nagar Depot premises.
“LMRC has undertaken an environmental campaign during the World Environment Week from June 3 to 9, during which many environmental awareness activities are being held ,” Kumar Keshav said.
