Chief minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated a garbage segregation scheme for UP from Aligarh on the occasion of World Environment Day.

“All citizens should implement garbage segregation scheme in their homes. They should keep two dustbins – one for dry garbage and the other for wet garbage. They may produce compost fertilizer, which is a blessing for biological cultivation,” he said while addressing a gathering at Exhibition ground here on the occasion.

The chief minister emphasised that solid waste management was directly linked to the Swachh Bharat concept that would make India healthy and strong.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already launched this scheme wherein he has dreamt of an India that will be free from open defecation,” said Yogi Adityanath. “There is need for awareness against open defecation as people are still going in the open where toilets have been constructed,” he added.

“Solid waste management being undertaken in Aligarh is a role model for the state. I have come to Aligarh to understand how the waste management model of Aligarh may be implemented in the entire UP under Amrut Yojna,” said the chief minister, underlining the importance of Aligarh, which emerged the second cleanest city of UP in the Swachh Bharat Survey-2017.

During his stay in Aligarh, Yogi Adityanath laid stones of many other projects worth ₹200 crore.
