Industrial policy to foster jobs, growth of B’khand & Purvanchal
The state government is set to roll out its new industrial policy.
The policy, whose draft has been presented to chief minister Yogi Adityanath, focuses on employment generation, uninterrupted power supply, development of Purvanchal and Bundelkhand and giving incentives to investors who set up units in these backward regions.
“Apart from ensuring ease of doing business by introducing single-window clearance system, investors seeking to set up business in these regions would be given tax relief and continuous power supply,” said UP’s industries minister Satish Mahana.
Promoting food parks and restoring old glory of Kanpur, once called Manchester of the East, will also be part of the new industrial policy, said the minister who hails from Kanpur.
After vetting by the CM, the draft policy has been uploaded on the website of the department for suggestions and objections of people before finalising it by June 26, he said.
Billed as ‘UP Industrial Investment and Employment Promotion Policy-2017’, the policy will seek to simplify the procedure for development of fundamental infrastructure and promote establishment of industries in Purvanchal and Bundelkhand regions. It will also ensure time-bound approvals with special focus on IT startups, electronics, agriculture and food processing, dairy, handloom, film development and tourism sectors, besides others.
On power sector, the minister said, the state government will give open access to industrialists and investors, who can purchase power from the private party. “This open access provision was not there in UP till date,” he said.
The minister said a singlewindow system will be set up to provide all facilities to potential investors under one roof. “We are also studying industrial policies of other states to incorporate good things,” the minister said. “Industrialists want congenial atmosphere and ease of doing business,” he said.
