Fed Cup junior athletics begin today

LUCKNOW: Almost all the top athletes of India would be seen in action during the three-day 15th Federation Cup National Junior Athletics Championship, starting Saturday, at the 35th Battalion, PAC stadium here.

Over 900 athletes for 44 events, including 22 in men under-20, have confirmed their participation and a record breaking success would help athletes get selected for the Indian team camp for the upcoming World Junior Athletics Championship.

GGSSC TRIUMPH

Guru Gobind Singh Sports College defeated Awadh Tiger Cricket Academy by four wickets to win the Prime Sports Trophy Cricket Tournament, at the Northern Railway Stadium here on Friday.

ATCA 164 in 29.4 overs (Vivek Pal 41, Shareef 35, Prabhat 26, Brijesh Sonkar 3 for 21, Janardan Singh 2 for 37) lost to GGSSC 168 for 6 in 29 overs (Shubham Gupta 47, Harshit Singh 25, Vineet Maurya 2 for 28, Vivek Pal 2 for 36).

LUCKNOW COLTS WIN

Lucknow Colts made it to the final of the Shiv Pal Sawaria Twenty20 Cricket Tournament, defeating National Youngster Club by seven wickets, at the Pt Raas Bihari Tewari Stadium here on Friday.

NYC 132 for 8 in 20 overs (Sajid 37, Mayank Kumar 30*, Ajay 2 for 9, Abhijeet 2 for 10) lost to Lucknow Colts 136 for 3 in 15.2 overs (Shailendra Singh 72*, Ajay Singh 23).

CONTRASTING WINS

It was a day of contrasting wins in the Shri Girja Shanker Srivastava Memorial Twent20 Cricket Tournament here on Friday. Dhruv Cricket Academy beat SDS Cricket Academy by seven wickets, whereas Jyoti Cricket Club beat DYA Cricket Club by 30 runs.
