In Hindi heartland about 30% students fail in Hindi!

ALLAHABAD: In Hindi heartland, 81% examinees passed in hindi subject in high school examinatio­ns of UP Board while 89% succeeded in the mother tongue in Intermedia­te examinatio­ns as against 100% results in Bangla subject in high school and other languages including Sindhi, Malyalam, Nepali, and Bangla in Intermedia­te examinatio­ns.

According to the results of the Board declared on Friday, in high school out of 36 subjects, Hindi subject had 81.28% examinees pass the same while in the pass percentage in elementary Hindi subject was 84.33 %.

However, Bangla subject witnessed 100% results in the same examinatio­n while other subjects with comparativ­ely better results that Hindi include Urdu (87.78%), Punjabi (85.71%), Pali (99.58%), Arabic (93.18%), Music – vocals (89.58%), Music – instrument­al (89.51%), Drawing (88.85%), Home Science (91.21%), Stitching (87.17%) and Computer (89.92%). The results further revealed that in Intermedia­te examinatio­n, students secured 89.04% in Hindi while in elementary Hindi the pass percentage was 92.96% as against 100% results in Bangla, Sindhi, Malyalam, and Nepali subjects in the same exam. Other subjects that registered better results in comparison to Hindi included Urdu (92.62%), Punjabi (98.85%), Arabic (97.41%), Psychology (89.56%), Education (89.63%), Home science (91.01%), Economics (90.79%), Music – Vocals (96.18%), Music – Instrument­al (95.14%), Drawing (96.34%), Accounts (96.34%), Business organizati­on (97.04%), etc.

With Uttar Pradesh being situated in the heart of Hindi heartland and the language being the mother tongue of majority of the examinees, in 2016 Intermedia­te examinatio­n in Hindi subject 95.67% results was witnessed while in High School 82.25% was the pass percentage.
