LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Congress will launch ‘haq maango abhiyan’ (campaign for rights) in Aligarh on Thursday to target the BJP-led government at the Centre and in the state for failing to solve problems of farmers and youths.

After launching the programme in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) president Raj Babbar will lead the campaign in remaining districts.

As part of the campaign, the party has coined a slogan: “Na karzmafi, na rozgar ka maukaprachand bahumat- phir bhi prachand dhokha” (No loan waiver, no jobs. Government has betrayed people despite having absolute majority).”

“Babbar will hold chaupals and panchayats in all the districts as part of the campaign. After Aligarh, Babbar will lead the campaign in Agra on June 16, Gautam Buddha Nagar on June 17 and Lucknow on June 19,” said UPCC spokesman Sanjay Bajpai.

This will be the party’s first major programme in UP after its drubbing in the 2017 elections. Babbar had sent a circular to partymen asking them to take up issues of farmers.

He referred to Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi’s concern for farmers. Rahul’s brief detention in Mandsaur (Madhya Pradesh where five farmers were killed in police firing) has given the party a reason to focus back on issues concerning farmers.
