Angry locals smash TVs
Tension gripped some parts of the Old City here on Sunday night after India lost to Pakistan in the final of Champions Trophy-2017.
As per reports, a group of minority community members celebrated Pakistan’s win by bursting crackers in Thakurganj’s Hussainabad locality at around 10 pm. Soon, another group of locals confronted them. The confrontation almost led to a clash and but it was averted due to the timely intervention of police. A team of police personnel was deployed there to check any further trouble.
Similar incident was also reported from a village in Sarojininagar. Here too the police managed to control the situation. Reports from Lucknow, Kanpur and some other places said people smashed television sets over India’s loss.
