: This Ramzan, a Pakistani girl is praying for a different cause. Aqeedat Naveed, 11, wants Salman Khan’s upcoming film ‘Tubelight’ to do well across the globe so that he can spread the light of education in some lives.

The Bollywood flick is slated for release on June 23, ahead of Eid.

In a two-page letter to the actor, Naveed has made a special request to Salman Khan. She says if the film is successful at the box office, the actor must pay school fees for 1,000 poor girls in India for one year.

“Dear Salman Khan, assalam allikum sir! On this Eid, your new film ‘Tubelight’ is releasing. I have seen the trailer. It is interesting and amazing. If it does well, you will pay 1,000 poor school girls’ fee for one year,” reads Aqeedat Naveed’s letter to the actor dated June 3, 2017.

She writes, “This will light up the real ‘Tubelight’ in many poor people’s life. We all should do these types of works for poor people of Pakistan and India.” This minor girl believes that if ‘Tubelight’ brings light in lives of people of India and Pakistan, one day people of both the countries will live like friends.

A student of Cathedral School in Lahore, this Pakistani girl is hopeful that one day Pakistan and India will be friends and help each other bring prosperity in lives of citizens of both countries. She signs off her letter wishing the actor ‘Happy Ramdan and Eid Mubarik’.

She considers Nobel Peace Laureate Malala Yousafzai as her role model and draws inspiration from her to promote education and eradicate illiteracy in both countries, which is the root cause of all problems. “Recently, I received a Young Peace Activist of the year award from my school,” she told HT over phone.

“My mother Mahvish Naveed, a homemaker, always motivates me to work for peace,” she says. Her father Ahmed Naveed is an assistant professor and drama writer who teaches how to write scripts for short films, dramas and documentary.

Aqeedat wants to visit India to see the Taj Mahal. “I have heard so much about this ‘monument of love’ constructed by the Mughal emperor, but never seen it,” she adds.

This is not the first time that Aqeedat Naveed has written to an Indian personality. After the BJP’s thumping victory in UP polls in March this year, she had penned a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, appealing him to work as a harbinger of peace.
