Dinesh Puri, deputy superintendent of police, who is posted as Ghazipur circle officer in the state capital, has come under scanner for corruption charges. He has been accused in an anonymous complaint against him for amassing disproportionate assets during his posting in Lucknow.

Inspector general (IG) of police Lucknow Range, Jai Narain Singh has ordered an inquiry against Puri over the allegations. He has asked additional superintendent of police (ASP), rural, Satish Kumar to inquire into the allegations and submit a report to him regarding his findings.

A source said the IG has ordered the inquiry against Puri over an anonymous letter sent to him a week back. He said in the letter it was alleged that Puri, in connivance with a property dealer, earned a huge amount of wealth during his posting as CO Ghazipur. “The letter stated that Puri procured a huge land at a prominent location in Manas Vihar locality under Indira Nagar police station. He was also accused of having a flat worth several crores and other assets in the name of his family members and friends,” said the source.
