AAP: RTI query reveals funds for Ayodhya projects siphoned off
The Aam Aadmi Party disclosed on Monday that funds for several projects in Ayodhya, which were approved during the tenure of the previous Samajwadi Party government in the state, had been embezzled.
The AAP sourced this information through RTI applications.
AAP national general secretary Sanjay Singh, accused the previous SP government of embezzlement of funds and also blamed the present BJP government for shielding corrupt officials of the previous regime.
“We have sourced information through RTI revealing embezzlement of funds meant for several projects in Ayodhya,” Singh told newsmen.
“An RTI application filed by the AAP has revealed that the former Samajwadi Party government had approved Rs 2.42 crore for construction of an entrance gate to Satsang Bhawan in Ayodhya, Rs 1.45 crore for Parikrama route ( Lakshman ghat to Goleghat) and Rs 1.21 crore for beautification of Tulsi Upvan,” he said.
“All this money was never used for the project. It was siphoned off by the then regional tourism officer of Faizabad,” he said.
The RTI application also revealed that the then district magistrate, Faizabad, Kinjal Singh, had written to the state government recommending stern action against the then regional tourism officer.
The AAP is all set to contest the forthcoming civic polls in Uttar Pradesh. It is taking up civic issues of all municipal corporations of the state.
