Chants of “Modi, Modi” were heard the loudest from block RA-4 of the venue — allotted to oversees visitors, who performed the ‘asanas’ with enthusiasm.
“I am here to say ‘thank you’ to Modi ji for the pain he is taking to promote yoga,” said Sunita J Hedau from Texas, US. She said she was a “big fan of PM Modi” and was here to meet him.
Shernaz Righter from Toronto said she and 50 others from different nations were waiting to click selfies with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “The ministry of tourism facilitated our tour, and our entry into this International Yoga Day programme,” she said.
“Yoga has great benefits. It’s good to see India transforming into a healthy nation,” said Righter, adding that the rain had not dampened the participants’ spirit at all. “We are happy to be a part of this event.” The visitors were from countries such as Korea, Japan, South Africa, Russia, Canada and Malaysia. They thanked the Indian government for making them a part of the mega event.
