Man stabs wife 35 times, injures son who intervened

NEW DELHI: A 36-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband at their home in northeast Delhi’s Dilshad Garden on Wednesday morning. Police said the woman was stabbed almost 35 times with a knife. She died on the spot.

When the couple’s 15-year-old son went to save his mother, the father allegedly attacked him as well. The boy suffered stab wounds in his hand. He was admitted to Guru Teg Bahadur Shastri hospital. His condition is stable. The man is on the run.

Initial probe revealed that Binod Bisht suspected his wife Rekha of having an extramarital affair. The couple often had fights over the issue. Binod works as a manager in a tent and catering firm.

On Wednesday, at around 5.30am, Binod returned home. Soon, the couple entered into an argument. Their elder son Vineet was sleeping in the adjacent room. During the altercation, Binod took out a knife from his bag and began attacking Rekha. When she screamed for help, Vineet rushed to their room and found his father attacking his mother. He tried to stop him but was attacked too.
