Entrance tests for nine courses likely from July 1

NEW DELHI: The online entrance test for admission to nine undergraduate courses is likely to start from July 1 and continue till July 9. The university has 1,196 seats under these courses.
The registration process for the entrance-based UG courses began on June 16 and will end on June 25. Officials said that the computer-based exams will be conducted in 18 cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Jammu, and Varanasi.
Till last session, the university used to conduct entrance test for eight undergraduate courses. But this year, the administration has decided to conduct entrance test for BA (Honours) Music as well.
“The entrance tests for the UG courses are likely to be held between July 2 and 9. The announcement will be made soon,” a source said.
DU will conduct entrance tests for nine courses, including BA (Hons) Humanities and Social Sciences, and Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) The University conducts a Joint Admission Test (JAT) for admission to Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS), Bachelor of Business Administration (Financial Investment Analysis) BBA (FIA) and BA (Honors) Business Economics. The JAT is likely to be held on July 9.
Officials said students applying for the undergraduate management courses will no longer have to go through a group discussion and personal interview.
Till last year, applicants had to give an entrance test followed by a group discussion and interview. “The merit list will be prepared based on the entrance test and Class 12 marks. The weightage given to entrance will be 65% and Class 12 marks will account for 35%,” a DU official said.
The test for BA (Hons) Music will be based on practical admission entrance test. “It will be held in the Department of Music, Faculty of Music & Fine Arts,” an official said.
The university had announced that the entrance test for postgraduate courses, MPhil and PhD will start on July 1.
The exams for over 70 courses will be conducted till July 6 at six locations across the country. The exams will be in the offline mode.
The university reserves 50% of total seats for direct admission to most PG courses.
