A group of Kashmiri students allegedly shouted anti-India and pro-Pakistan slogans at a dental college here after Team India lost the final match of Champions Trophy on June 18.

After receiving a complaint from college students, activists of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal led by Balraj Dungar stormed the campus on Wednesday and confronted the college authorities.

They demanded stern action against those who shouted antiIndia slogans.

Circle officer, Brahmpuri, Dharmendra Chauhan and force from various police stations also reached the college to avert any untoward incident during the visit of Hindu leaders.

However, the leaders returned after seeking assurance of action against culprits. Dungar and college students lodged separate cases of sedition against Kashmiri students on Wednesday. SSP J Ravindra Gaud has directed SP (city) Maan Singh Chauhan to investigate the matter and submit a report at the earliest.

A group of students approached Dungar when the college authorities ignored their plea for action against those who shouted anti-India slogans and cheered the Pakistan cricket team. They also showed Dungar some anti-India posts on social media.

Dungar said college principal Sunil Malhotra told him that he had received complaints and a committee had been formed to look into the allegations.

Dungar said the district administration should take action against the accused within two days otherwise they would be forced to launch an agitation.

The dental college has 60 Kashmiri students and most of them have left for their native places after the controversy. A few of them said they were going their home to celebrate Eid and they had nothing to do with the controversy.
