NEET results: City boy gets 44th rank
Son of a homoeopathy practitioner, the 17yearold awarded free coaching as he came first in UP in the aptitude test
Prakhar Agrawal was sleeping when his aunt Mamta broke the news that he has secured All-India Rank 34 in the general category of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) 2017, result of which was announced on Friday.
His NEET (all-inclusive) rank is 44 and the AIR (excluding J&K, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh) is 37. Prakhar scored 91.2% in Intermediate and 97.4% in Class 10.He wants to opt for neurosurgery for his post graduation after completing his MBBS.
“This was my first attempt in NEET. The rank has given me the power to choose any college but I shall prefer Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), New Delhi,” said an elated Prakhar.
Son of homoeopathy practitioner PK Agrawal and homemaker Kavita Agrawal, the 17-year-old was awarded free coaching as he came first in Uttar Pradesh in the aptitude test.
As the news broke friends and relatives started visiting their home in Bangla Bazaar and made calls to congratulate the family.
Dr Agrawal, who got the information at his clinic, rushed home after he finished attending his last patient and the family decided to make it special with celebrations.
“He has made us proud once again,” Dr Agrawal said, adding, “I wish he makes the institution he chooses for MBBS proud by his work as institutions are made by its students and not buildings.”
Prakhar said he did not study for long hours but concentrated on revision. “I gave 5 to 6 hours a day but made sure I read when my heart said I should do this and with full concentration,” he said.
He gave the credit of his success to his parents and teachers. “Even his teachers at the Red Rose School were available for any help he wanted. Teachers were not only supportive, but made sure they are available for the help he needed,” said Prakhar’s father.
ACHIEVER FROM SANT KABIR NAGAR
Abhay Chandra Pandey of Sant Kabir Nagar also made his family proud by securing AIR 566 in the NEET. He also got AIR 761 in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) entrance exam for an MBBS course and is hopeful of getting a seat in one of the six AIIMS.
“I got 635 out of 720 marks in the NEET. This was my second attempt,” said Abhay and added King George’s Medical University will be his second choice.
Abhay, son of Dr KC Pandey, did his schooling from RLB School in Lucknow.
Navdeep Singh from Punjab topped with a score of 697 marks in the exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for admission to medical, dental, AYUSH and veterinary colleges across the country. Indore’s Archit Gupta and Manish Mulchandani secured the AIRs 2 and 3.
Barabanki resident Abhishek Verma, who did his schooling in Lucknow, secured all-India rank 27 in NEET 2017 results, gets OBC rank 2
Over 11,38,889 candidates registered for the exam for 65,000 seats in MBBS and 25,000 seats in BDS courses, of which 10,90,085 appeared and 6,11,539 qualified. Of the successful candidates, 2,66,221 were boys and 3,45,313 girls.
Five of the eight from the transgender category cleared the exam.
