‘Uttar Pradesh to benefit most from dedicated freight corridor’
Chairman railway board (CRB) AK Mittal held a meeting with top officials at Subedarganj here on Friday and discussed the dedicated freight corridor passing through the state that would greatly improve the mobility of rail traffic and prevent inconvenience to road users.
The corridor would be developed in two parts— the 1318-Km eastern dedicated freight corridor (EDFC) and 1504-western dedicated freight corridor (WDFC) at a cost of ₹81459 crore.
It would pass through 7 states, 61 districts and more than 1000 villages involving 10589 hectares land and over 3,04,603 PAPs (people affected by the project).
The states to be benefitted are Uttar Pradesh (1077kms), Bihar (100kms), Punjab (88kms), Haryana (248 kms), Rajasthan (567 kms), Gujarat (565 kms), Maharashtra (177kms).
A whopping 38% of the total project was in Uttar Pradesh and benefit the state most, said Mittal.
The USP of the corridor is that it would be free of level crossing gates that will greatly increase the mobility of rail traffic.
Those present in the meeting were general manager of North central Railway (NCR) MC Chauhan and GM, East Central Railway (ECR) and managing director of the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd (DFCCIL) DK Gayen.
On the occasion an additional flyover at ‘Daudkhan’ station, 3rd line between Daudkhan and Aligarh (7.06km) and a 3rd line between Ruma and Chanderi Stations (11.36kms) of Allahabad Division was also proposed.
