Another fake edu board detected
Yet another fake education board that was operational in the state capital has come to light on Saturday.
It runs with the name of Rajkiya Institute of Open Schooling (RIOS), formerly Rajkiya Open School (ROS). The office of the district inspector of school (DIOS) noticed it when a girl brought a marksheet issued by the board for verification. The DIoS Mukesh Kumar Singh has issued order to initiate action against all such illegal boards. The marksheet issued by the fake board was identical to that of the UP Board. It has a photo of the candidate and symbol of the UP government. Candidates were happy to shell out something between Rs 3,000 and Rs 20,000 for every marksheet.
RIOS was operating from a place in Phulbagh and Vikas Nagar area. To mislead students and parents, the board on its official website has uploaded a number of documents to establish that it is a recognised body, said the DIOS. RIOS official website reads that it was established in February 2014 as an autonomous institution in pursuance of National Policy on Education 1986 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), government of India. “RIOS is providing a number of courses besides General and Academic Courses at Secondary and Senior Secondary level. It also offers Elementary level Courses through its Open Basic Education Programmes, government of UP through a gazette notification vested RIOS with the authority to examine and certify learners registered with it upto pre degree level courses, the website reads.
Way back in 2013, the UP Madhyamik Shikshak Sangh claimed that a fake examination board was operating in different parts of the country, including Uttar Pradesh. Board of Higher Secondary Education, Delhi, the alleged unrecognised board has so far granted affiliation to over 300 schools in India, including 12 in Lucknow, claimed RP Mishra, a representative of UP Madhyamik Shikshak Sangh.
