LPS felicitates its meritorious students
Lucknow Public Schools and Colleges felicitated more than its 500 students, who passed the 2017 board exams with flying colours. Students who passed the Class XII exams with meritorious percentage got Samsung Tablets, suitcases, trolley bags and certificate of appreciation. Their parents were also honoured and were presented bouquets and shawls. The students who scored 100 percent marks in any subject were specially awarded with a certificate of appreciation. Director, Sushil Kumar, addressed the program.
Roof top solar energy system inaugurated
A grid connected roof top solar energy system installed at ICAR-Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research (ICAR-IISR), Lucknow was inaugurated by Dr JS Sandhu, deputy director general (Crop Science), ICAR, New Delhi on Saturday. With the inauguration of the solar energy system, the ICAR-IISR is now one step ahead in green energy production and conservation of conventional electric energy. The institute has signed a memorandum of understanding with M/s Genus Innovations Limited, Jaipur for erection, testing and commissioning of the grid connected roof top solar power system. The firm will also be responsible for its operation and maintenance for the next 25 years. As per the MoU, the firm has already installed solar panels on the roof tops of the institute buildings with total power generation capacity of 250 KW and started power generation. During the period May, 2017, a total of about 30000 kwh power was generated by the Roof Top Solar Power System at the institute. The Institute purchases electricity from Power Company at average cost of ₹12 per kwh, while the average cost of power purchased from roof top solar power system comes to ₹6 per kwh. Thus, with installation of this roof top solar power system at the Institute, the ICAR-IISR, Lucknow will save the power bill to the tune of ₹2 lakh per month, amounting to ₹24 lakh per annum. Director, Dr AD Pathak gave a presentation on the activities and recent achievements of ICAR-IISR.
Notice to staff found absent after marking attendence
The Lucknow University vice-chancellor Prof SP Singh on Saturday took round of the Cashiers office, Arts Faculty Dean office, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Dean of Students Welfare office, Institute of Development Studies (IDS) and Department of Public Administration. Some of the employees were found missing from their offices and at some places some employees were absent after signing the attendance register. The university will serve notices to such employees. The registrar has been directed to write to the heads of the departments to distribute work responsibility to employees individually and ascertain its execution on regular basis. In the IDS library, the vice-chancellor has sought reports as to how many books have been purchased during the last three years, the details of the monthly issue of books and daily visitor register of the library, said Prof NK Pandey, Lucknow University spokesperson.
