Ex CM’s kin allegedly killed over land dispute

ALIGARH : A relative of former UP chief minister, CB Gupta, was killed over a land dispute in Qayampur village here on Sunday.

An FIR was registered against half-a-dozen people in the case, and the body was sent for autopsy examinatio­n.

Police sources said the victim may have died due to heart attack during the scuffle.

A dispute over a piece of land in Qayampur was going on between the deceased, who worked as a private bus operator, and some people.

“This plot - measuring 516 sq m - was registered in the name of Ajay’s brother-in-law, Pravin, a teacher. Some people were trying to own the land with the help of fake documents,” said Jitesh, the victim’s relative.

Jitesh lodged an FIR at Kawarasi police station, in which he mentioned that his uncle (Ajay), friend Akash Dixit and some others were getting a boundary built around the land, when they were accosted by the accused, who threatened them to stop the constructi­on.

He said a few hours later, the accused came back and attacked Ajay, hitting him on the chest.

“The accused fled the scene. We rushed Ajay to the hospital where he was declared brought dead,” said Jitesh.

The men accused in the crime are: Dinesh, Chandra Pal, Satya Parkash, Bhupendra, Rakesh Yadav and Shiv Charan Varshney.
