Lucknow’s Divyansh gets top billing in UP Cup Table Tennis

Young paddler from Lucknow, Divyansh Srivastava has been given top billing in the sub-junior boys category at the 32nd Junior UP State Table Tennis Championsh­ip ‘UP Cup’, beginning Friday, at the Eklavya Indoor Stadium in Agra. He is followed by Vibhor Garg of Ghaziabad, Ujjwal Verma of Allahabad and Akshat Tyagi of Ghaziabad.

About 280 players from all parts of the state have confirmed their participat­ion in the threeday championsh­ip, being organized by the Agra District Table Tennis Associatio­n. Lucknow’s Amit Singh, an internatio­nal umpire has been named chief referee of the event. FINE BATTING Kshitiz Baluja struck a fine 69 in 71 balls with the help of seven fours and four sixes as DYA Club defeated K Cricket Academy by eight wickets in a league match of the Under-16 Cricket Tournament, at the Multi Activity Ground here on Thursday. BRIEF SCORES KCA 172 for 8 in 30 overs (Vishal Rawat 74, Singh 28, Devendra Pandey 3 for 36) lost to DYAC 174 for 2 in 25.1 overs (Kshitiz Baluja 69, Ashutosh Pandey 40, Himanshu Singh 29*). DIPTESH SHINES Diptesh Sachan smashed 58-ball 91 with the help of 14 fours and a six as Drona Cricket Academy defeated Panthers Academy by seven wickets in a league match of the 2nd Tauqeer Memorial Cricket Tournament, at the Northern Railway Stadium here on Thursday. In other matches of the day, Annapurna Club defeated UP rangers Club by 10 runs, and Divine Cricket Club beat Lucknow Cricketers by nine wickets. FINE BOWLING Ajay P Singh (3/13) and Jai Shukla (3/28) bowled well as UCC defeated Multi Activity Cricket Academy by nine wickets in a league match of the 1st Manish Mishra Memorial Under-15 cricket tournament, at the NER stadium here on Thursday. After skittling out MACA for paltry 73 in 22.1 overs, UCC romped home in 9.3 overs with Kartikey hitting an unbeaten 44 in 37 balls.
