MET DEPT SAYS Showers likely to continue for the next 4 to 5 days
Youngsters enjoy monsoon showers in Lucknow on Saturday. Lucknow received 34.9 mm rain during the day that also brought down the temperatures. Rain is likely to continue for the next 45 days across Lucknow as well as other parts of the state. Saturday’s downpour led to water logging and traffic snarls across the city.
LUCKNOW Monsoon rain lashed many parts of the city first time this season on Saturday, bringing relief from scorching heat. It started raining around noon and continued for about two hours. Drizzle continued all through the day. It again rained for halfan-hour in the evening.
“Rain will continue for the next 4-5 days across Lucknow. Similar conditions are likely in the entire state where moderate rain is expected to continue in the next couple of days. However, heavy rain is also likely to occur at isolated placed over the state,” said JP Gupta, state Met director. As per the meteorological department records, Lucknow received 34.9 mm rain during the day. The maximum temperature was recorded 34.9 degrees, one degree below normal. The minimum temperature was 27.4 degrees Celsius which was normal. The relative humidity was recorded 97% during the day.
Welcoming rain, many people enjoyed it in their own way. Many collected at the parks and memorials in Gomti Nagar to enjoy the much awaited showers. Youngsters in large numbers could be seen enjoying the rain on streets.
Several other parts of the state also received rain on the day. Varanasi recorded 22.8 millimetre of rain, Sultanpur recorded 34 mm, Ghazipur got 28 mm, Basti 19.4 mm while Kanpur received 27.3 mm rain along with several stations that also received rain.
