Air connectivity with Allahabad on govt’s priority
Deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Sunday said the plan for air connectivity between Allahabad and other cities was on the government’s priority and added that the proposed airport would be constructed before Ardh Kumbh.
Inaugurating the fourth passport office of the state at the general post office in Allahabad, he said the residents would not have to face inconvenience of going to other cities to get passports made.
“More facilities will be provided in the city before the 2019 Ardh Kumbh,” he said.
Maurya said work on Allahabad-Haldia waterways was in full swing and the condition of roads would also improve before 2019.
Expressing happiness over Allahabad being selected for the Smart City project, he said the government was committed to promoting religious tourism and he wished that it came out as the best city in the country.
Maurya said preparations for smooth and safe movement of kanwariyas had been completed in view of the month of Shrawan beginning on Monday. “Kanwariyas will be allowed to play religious songs during their movement,” he said.
Justifying the state government’s plans for giving voluntary retirement to inefficient officers at the age of 50, Maurya said it was a good step. He said the government would present its first budget on July 11 or 12.
Referring to the murder of five people in Rae Bareli recently, Maurya said the National Security Act (NSA) would be slapped on the culprits and the victim’s family would be provided support.
