The mud road leading to the house of slain CRPF sub-inspector Sahab Shukla’s house in Majhgawa village was covered with carpets during the CM’s visit to the martyr’s house on Saturday.

Sources claimed that CM Yogi Adityanath expressed his displeasure over the administration’s failure to ensure proper road and make other arrangements.

Although DM Rajeev Rautela could not be reached for his comment due to his engagement in the CM’s programme, sources in administration claimed the carpet was laid to provide easy access to the martyr’s house as the rain had rendered the road slippery.

Kailash, gram pradhan of Majhgawan village who tried to hand over a memorandum to the CM for different demands, said it was not possible for the administration to build the road on such a short notice. “The DM has assured us that cement roads will be built in the village,” he said.

Moreover, VIP treatment accorded to the CM at the martyr’s house also drew criticism in social media and was highlighted on many TV channels.

A luxurious sofa and a cooler were placed and a red carpet was laid inside the room where Yogi spent about 10 minutes with the family of the martyr and gave a cheque for ₹6 lakh as compensation. “I don’t know much but sofa and carpet were set up for the CM,” Saurabh, the son of the martyr, said.

As the reports were highlighted by the media, the local administration allowed Shukla’s family to keep sofa, cooler and carpet with them, apparently to avoid criticism the local administration had faced when it took back an air conditioner, sofa from the house of another martyr Prem Sagar Shukla just after the CM’s visit to his house in Deoria on June 12.
