Yogi Adityanath launches farm loan waiver portal
The Uttar Pradesh government took a step forward towards its farm loan waiver when chief minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated a farmers’ loan waiver administrative portal on Sunday and asked all the district magistrates and commissioners to feed data related to land and eligibility of farmers in the portal within 10 days.
The step comes shortly before the budget session that is scheduled to begin on Tuesday and is likely to pass the budget for the Rs 36,000 crore loan waiver.
Following the 2017 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) manifesto, the Yogi government had announced the waiver for small and marginal farmers in its first cabinet meeting.
On Sunday night, the chief minister held a video conferencing with all the DMs and commissioners in the state to discuss plans for implementation of the scheme.
The chief minister asked the officers that they should work towards implementation of the scheme.
Yogi told them that he will again hold a conferencing with all the officers 10 days later to cross check how far have they progressed.
Yogi, a state government’s press statement said, had asked the officers to establish control rooms at district and tehsil levels for the waiver and gave three days time to establish a helpline to answer queries of farmers and put up hoardings at tehsil and block level to publicise the scheme.
