Oil co officials still await nod to run sealed CNG units
District administration officials will meet oil company representatives on Tuesday to solve the problem of CNG scarcity affecting the city, particularly the Trans-Gomti area.
Two CNG filling stations in Trans-Gomti were shut down after tampering devices were found during inspections. However, the move led to increased rush at the remaining CNG pumps.
Meanwhile, oil company officials proposed that their staff could run the sealed units, provided the district administration agreed.
If the proposal is accepted, it will help ease off the load being handled by the CNG station in Vibhuti Khand.
District magistrate, Kaushalraj Sharma, said, “The (oil) company officials have been called with plans to start CNG supply on company-owned and company-operated (COCO) pump systems. This will be a relief for owners of CNG vehicles.”
Sharma added that no-objection certificates for 10 new CNG pumps were pending with the district administration, and six new CNG pump applications had also come in. “If all that is cleared by the district administration, then more CNG dispensers will be available in the city,” he said.
However, oil company officials reiterated that they expected the district administration to agree to their proposal of operating CNG dispensing units “in a day or two”.
Meanwhile, the DM has directed CNG stations to ensure that all school transport vehicles were provided with CNG on priority basis so that students didn’t have to face problems while going to school.
