Avadh Club gets walk-over, points too in football league

LUCKNOW : On a day when Sports College ‘A’ and Chowk Sporting split points while playing a goalless draw, Avadh Club collected full two points without even touching the ball in the District Football League here on Tuesday.

Avadh Club had a walk-over against Castle Club, which failed to turn up in the second match of the day, at the Chowk Stadium. Earlier, Sports College ‘A’ and Chowk Sporting played a goalless draw to share the points.

In the Dilkusha-leg of the league, BR Das Club and APS Academy too shared points after playing 1-1 draw, at the Dilkusha ground on Tuesday. Priyanshu put APS Academy ahead in the 15th minute (1-0), but Gurang restored parity in the 47th minute from left flank.

CUE SPORT

The 3rd Nawab Emad-ud-din Ashraf Memorial Billiards and Snooker Tournament will be held from July 28 to August 5, at the Oudh Gymkhana Club here under the auspices of the Billiards and Snooker Associatio­n of Lucknow. Top cueists are expected to participat­e in the tournament, which is to be played on a league-cum knockout basis starting with billiards event. The top draw will be the India No 3 snooker player of the Indian Railways Malkeet Singh. Entries close with Kirti Khanna and Satnam Singh.

BASKETBALL LEAGUE

Lucknow District Basketball Associatio­n is going to organize B-League for sub-junior boys and girls here in August. Players, who are born on or after January 1, 2004, are eligible to participat­e. All colleges/schools of Lucknow can send their entries before July 31 to Pankaj Sinha, secretary LDBA.

CONVINCING WINS

Gulmohar Cricket Academy (GCA) and IPRK Club (IPRLKC) notched up convincing wins to collect full points in the Anwar Memorial Twenty20 Cricket Tournament, at the Pt Raas Bihari Tewari stadium here on Tuesday. GCA beat Kalpana Foundation by 79 runs, whereas IPRKC beat Chauhan Sporting by five wickets.

FINE BOWLING

Ritesh Shukla (3/10) and Himanshu Kashyap (3/9) bowled superb along with Vivek Meena (2/10) as Asha Cricket Foundation (ACF) trounced Lucknow Cricketers by five wickets in a league match of the Under-6 Cricket Tournament, at the Christian College ground here on Tuesday.

SCHOOL CHESS

Young experts of brain game Sadhil Mishra, Gargi Jeeva and Shraddha Yadav hogged the limelight at the 5th Inter-School Chess Championsh­ip here on Tuesday.

Sadhil won the boys under-7 title, collecting highest three points. He was followed by Ramesh Tiwari of DPS Gomti Nagar and Suryansh Shrivastav­a of the Modern Academy.

Gargi Jeeva emerged champion in the girls under-7 group. Daksha Singh finished runners-up, while Shivnashi Srivastava stood third. Shraddha wrested girls under-19 title, securing three points. Jasfika Lobo and Smriti Singh finished second and third, respective­ly.
