LUCKNOW: Suspected Lashkar-e Taiba (LeT) operative, Salim Khan, who was arrested from Mumbai airport on Monday is likely to be brought to Lucknow by the UP Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) sleuths on Thursday.

He was arrested soon after he landed in Mumbai from UAE.

Khan, who is a native of Fatehpur district, was on the UP ATS radar since 2008 after his name surfaced in the attack on CRPF camp in Rampur.

He allegedly had recruited several youths in LeT, arranged for their terror training in Pakistan and funded sleepers modules in Uttar Pradesh and other states.

Recently, his name cropped up in the funding to ISI agent Aftab arrested from Faizabad on May 3.

A senior ATS official said the Mumbai court has granted three day transit remand of Salim on Tuesday and he is likely to reach Lucknow by Thursday morning.

He said Salim’s interrogation might provide several crucial leads about ISI network and sleeping modules operational in UP and other states.

He said Salim will be produced here in Lucknow court and his police custody remand will be further sought to quiz him about his network and terror operations.

The official said it was the UP ATS that had issued a lookout notice for Khan when his name surfaced in terror funding recently.

It was this notice that led the Maharashtra ATS to arrest him when he arrived at Mumbai airport.

SALIM KHAN, WHO IS A NATIVE OF FATEHPUR DISTRICT, WAS ON THE UP ATS RADAR SINCE 2008 AFTER HIS NAME SURFACED IN THE ATTACK ON CRPF CAMP IN RAMPUR.
