Indresh strikes a brace in football league

LUCKNOW Experience­d Indresh struck two goals in the second half to fashion Golden Boys Club’s comprehens­ive 4-0 win against State Bank of India in the District Football League-2017, at the Chowk Stadium here on Monday. The other match of the day at the venue between RK Sporting and Aliganj Warrior ended in a 1-1 draw. Indresh struck in the 50th and 55th minute, respective­ly after Saket (10th) and Sachin (41st) minute put the side ahead. In the second match, Asriya put the Aliganj Warrior ahead with a field goal in the 13th minute (1-0), but soon after a change in the ends, Flaka scored equalizer in the 40th minute for RK Sporting. At the Dilkusha Stadium, Deccan Returns outclassed HAL Boys 3-0, whereas Vera City beat GIC Blub by 2-1. Ankur, Sachin and Arun scored for Deccan Returns, whereas Rohit and Vishal scored in the first half for Vera City. Saif struck the consolatio­n goal for GIC Club in the 45th minute.

FINE BOWLING

Tushar Verma (4/9) and Vineet Singh (3/1) bowled superbly to help Aryavart Cricket Academy (ACA) score a thumping 10-wicket win against Lucknow Braves in the quarterfin­al of the 2nd Tauqeer Memorial Cricket Tournament, at the Pt Raas Bihari Tewari Stadium here on Monday. BRIEF SCORES Lucknow Braves 66 in 19.2 overs (Deepak Kumar 30, Tushar Verma 4 for 9, Vineet Singh 3 for 1) lost to ACA 69 for no loss in 6.4 overs (Vineet Singh 46*, Ritesh Rai 20*).

SUPERB BOWLING

Akshat Rawat took six wickets at the cost of just seven runs as Nawab Cricket Club (NCC) defeated Lucknow Cricket Nursery (LCN) by 38 runs in a league match of the Under-16 Cricket Tournament, at the Lucknow Christian College ground here on Monday. BRIEF SCORES NCC 96 in 26 overs (Wahabul 22, Lakhan Singh 18, Vipin Pal 2 for 19, Tushar Gulati 2 for 22, Dheeraj 2 for 26) beat LCN 58 in 21.5 overs (Akshat Rawat 6 for 7).

SPORTS EVENTS

The Avijai Charitable Trust would be conducting three major events in the next three months in the state capital. Trusts’ managing trustee PC Chaturvedi while announcing this on Monday, states that 3rd Avinash Chandra Chaturvedi Memorial Inter-School Chess Team Championsh­ip will be held from August 8 to 11, at the Moti Mahal here.

This would be followed by the 16th Avinash Chandra Chaturvedi Memorial Inter-School Football Tournament from August 18 to September 6, at the Chowk stadium, and 19th Avinash Chandra Chaturvedi Memorial Inter-School Cricket Tournament from October 4 to 25.
