Two Lucknow University profs at loggerheads

-

LUCKNOW: Two senior professors of Lucknow University have locked horns over entry of cars on the campus.

On Wednesday, Proctor Prof Vinod Singh issued a notice to Prof Nishi Pandey, which said entry of vehicles on the campus had been banned to ensure peace. Still she brought her vehicle inside which was not justified.

“You are therefore requested to park your vehicle at the parking stand and walk inside like other respectable teachers, to help LU administration to effectively put a ban on entry of vehicles on the campus,” reads the notice. In reply, Prof Nishi Pandey wrote, “I entered the campus on the basis of a pass carrying your signature which was duly placed on my vehicle.”

“Today I was told by the guard that Vishwajeet, a supervisor, had said no vehicle would be allowed to enter the campus. I showed him the pass and said there was no notice from the proctor about cancellation of the pass so I should be allowed to go in,” reads her reply.

“It is unfortunate that when you could have picked up the phone and spoken to me about cancelling my pass, you chose to issue me a notice of this nature. I have served with utmost integrity and discipline for the past 30 years and I strongly protest this treatment. I too have been a proctor and understand your compulsions but cannot understand your lack of personal courtesy towards a fellow colleague you have known for years,” reads the reply.

Prof Nishi Pandey, who was the first woman proctor of LU, further said in her reply, “I am deeply pained and saddened by your letter and attitude towards a fellow teacher.”
