How can the chief minister sit quietly when 2,000 jobs are going to other centres? SP president supports TCS employees. RAJENDRA CHAUDHARY, SP leader

LUCKNOW: The employees of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) are expected to meet Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday, in an effort to pressurise the company management to not shift the 2,000 employees to other centres.

The employees feel had Akhilesh Yadav been the chief minister, he would have dealt with the problem in a more positive way.

Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party has openly come out in support of TCS employees.

Veteran Samajwadi Party leader and spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary said, “The Bharatiya Janata Party government will never work to generate employment as it believes in politics of hate and communalism for grabbing power. How can the chief minister sit quietly when 2,000 jobs are going to other centres? Either he does not understand the importance of jobs or he has other priorities. Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav supports TCS employees and will talk to Ratan Tata directly, if required, to keep TCS in the state capital,” he said.

“During the tenure of Akhilesh Yadav, the government decided to develop Lucknow as a major IT hub after Noida. For that Akhilesh Yadav called Shiv Nader and HCL pumped in Rs 1,500 crore to develop IT city. Not only that, during the visit of Ratan Tata in Lucknow in December 2015, he promised to do a lot for Uttar Pradesh,” Chaudhary said.

He told the young techies that Akhilesh Yadav would soon meet them and do his bit to stop TCS shift from Lucknow.

Reportedly, top TCS officials are scheduled to meet the chief minister after August 10.

However, the employees, who have been directed to pack their bags and move to other centres after August 5, say such a meeting would be of no use as all the employees would have shifted by then.

The employees allege that principal secretary, IT, has not shown any interest in meeting them or taking up their issue with the company. Rather, he has avoided meeting the software techies.

Similarly, they say, deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma who evinced support initially, has become silent over the issue.
