‘It’s my duty as MLA to help the needy’

AGRA: BJP MLA from Etah Sadar Vipin Verma David came to the rescue the members of a Muslim family who were lying unattended after a road mishap on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway.
The MLA was on his way to Lucknow to attend a meeting at the state assembly on Monday when he saw a crowd surrounding a car that had overturned near Pilakhna village in Unnao.
A woman, Rukhsana, died in the accident while four others – three of whom were identified as Waqar, Anees and Parveen – sustained injuries.
The family hailed from Kannauj and was going to Deva Sharif in Barabanki.
David arranged for an ambulance and got the injured shifted to trauma centre at the King George’s Medical University, Lucknow.
“The crowd was simply watching the damaged car and the victims. I found an injured woman and helped her out,” David said while talking to HT over the phone.
“Two women were badly injured. We called the ambulance and police response vehicle after which the injured people were shifted to Lucknow,” he said.
“Though I was getting late for the meeting but it was my duty as a human being and a public representative to help the needy. I followed the ambulance and ensured that the victims were admitted to the trauma centre,” he said.
“The caste or religion of accident victim did not matter to me. It was my duty to help them and I stayed with them for about three hours. We tried to talk to the injured so that they remained conscious till they reach Lucknow,” David said.
