Get 3D visual treat of rare statues in Allahabad Museum soon
ALLAHABAD: With an aim to provide a digital 3D version of rare statues and artifacts, the Allahabad Museum is all set to present a visual treat of ancient civilizations at a click of the mouse.
The museum authorities are filming 10,000 rare statues of ancient civilizations and around 72,000 artifacts as part of Jatan Virtual Museum builder, a digital collection management system prepared for Indian museums under PM Narendra Modi’s Digital India campaign.
Talking to Hindustan Times, director of Allahabad Museum, Rajesh Purohit said efforts were being made to complete filming in current 2017-18 financial year.
“We have set a target of completing the process in the current financial year but will extend the same if the work does not complete because stressing on achieving the target in stipulated time could affect quality of work,” he said.
Once the process gets completed the entire work would be uploaded for viewing in 3D format on museum’s website www.theallahabadmuseum.com and vital information regarding history would be available for historians, research scholars over a click of the mouse.
Allahabad Museum is one of the four central museums in the country including Salar Jung Museum, Hyderabad, National Museum in Kolkatta and National Museum, New Delhi.
The Allahabad Museum also enjoys the distinction of having second largest collection of around 72,000 rare artifacts in the country after the National Museum in Kolkatta which has around 2 lakh artifacts.
