If ours was govt of goons, what is yours? Akhilesh asks Adityanath

-

Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday launched a bitter attack on the Yogi Adityanath government while speaking on the general budget in the Vidhan Parishad.

In a speech running around one-and-a-half hour, former chief minister tried to put the government in the dock on various issues, while recounting development works done during his government.

Drawing the attention of the house to the deteriorating law and order in the state, he said the crime situation was so bad that the government had nothing to speak about it.

Citing specific criminal incidents and cases of lawlessness by BJP leaders, he reminded the house how his government was used to be dubbed as government of goons.

“Now, let us know as to how we should address your government,” he asked turning to leader of the house and deputy chief minister, Dinesh Sharma.

He said his government was also accused of giving prime postings to officers belonging to a particular caste. “But what about your government,” he asked. Raising a question mark over the genuineness of the incident of discovery of an explosive substance which he termed as a ‘puriya’ in the assembly, Yadav demanded the government to make the Agra and Hyderabad lab reports public.

He alleged the recovery of the ‘puriya’ had to do with stopping movement of ex-MLAs and others on the Vidhan Sabha premise. Insisting that it was unfortunate to kill human beings to save cows, he accused the BJP of spreading hatred in the society in the name of cow protection.

He said the BJP’s love for cow was a sham and the government must explain as to how meet export from UP had increased despite ban on beef.

CBI PROBE INTO RIVERFRONT PROJECT

Akhilesh Yadav alleged the state government has recommended the CBI probe into his government’s riverfront project because it happened to be superior to Sabarmati riverfront development project in Gujarat.

“They are not able to digest this fact and hence the CBI probe.” He said the architect of both the projects was same. Taking a dig at the central and the state government’s plan to clean the Ganga by making villages open defecation free, he said making toilets were not enough unless people use them.

“If not today, the government will realise tomorrow the key to the cleaning of the rivers lay in the Gomti riverfront-like projects,” he said.

CBI CLUB IS EXPANDING

The former CM said there had been a tendency of the government at the Centre to misuse the CBI against opponents. The NDA government has now unleashed the CBI after Lalu Prasad Yadav. “We are also the members of the CBI club and the club is expanding,” he said.

Taking a dig at rumours about deputy chief minister, Keshav Prasad Maurya being shifted to Centre as a minister, Akhilesh said he learnt someone was moving to Delhi. “We are yet to become friend. Just imagine what will happen if we all three (SP, BSP and Congress) come together,” he said.

BUDGET IS ANTI-DEVELOPMENT

He said the BJP government’s first general budget was ‘anti-development’ and aimed at cutting costs. He regretted the government having discontinued previous regimes’ Samajwadi Pension Yojana adversely affecting 55 lakh poor women.

Yadav said the loan waiver announced by the government was inadequate for farmers.

He said the GST and the demonetisation had hit the economy hard. He questioned why Lucknow metro was not being started and dared the government to make an expressway better than the Lucknow-Agra expressway made by his government.

He signed off by reciting a couplet, “Main sach kahoonga magar phir bhi haar jaunga, Wo jhooth bolega aur la jawab kar dega.”
