Siddharth: Ministers’ asset details filed with finance minister
Yogi Adityanath government’s spokesman and minister for medical and health Siddharth Nath Singh on Wednesday said the ministers had submitted the details of assets to the minister for finance Rajesh Agarwal and could not do so before the assembly secretariat as they were not aware of requirements of the Uttar Pradesh Ministers and Legislators (Publication of Assets and Liabilities) Act 1975.
Hindustan Times on Wednesday carried a report on Yogi’s 33 ministers and 359 MLAs’ failure on submitting assets details as required under the provisions of the Uttar Pradesh Ministers and Legislators (Publication of Assets and Liabilities) Act 1975.
The ministers and members are required to declare assets and liabilities before the assembly secretariat within three months of assuming their office or being elected.
Singh said he had now learnt about the provisions of the act and so would do the needful by the next week.
“As ministers we all have submitted details of assets to finance minister who is also the party’s treasurer. This is what was told to all council of ministers by the chief minister,” said Singh.
“Everyone has compiled their details but there is another requirement by assembly secretariat of submitting to them also. I presume all ministers who haven’t filed details fall in my category. Now, since I have learnt about it, I will complete the formalities by next week,” Singh added.
Asked whether remaining ministers would also submit details of assets to assembly secretariat by next week, the minister said he had not spoken to others on the issue.
“Someone had to communicate to them about this,” said the minister.
