Bowlers help GCA lift Twenty20 cricket trophy

LUCKNOW: Arun Singh and Sahil bowled superbly and shared six wickets between them to help Gulmohar Cricket Academy (GCA) beat Yorker Cricket Club (YCC) by 41 runs to win the Anwar Memorial Twenty20 Cricket Tournament, at the Pt Raas Bihari Tewari Stadium here on Wednesday.

Arun took three for 4, whereas Sahil gave away 40 runs for three wickets as GCA got YCC out for 120 in 19.5 overs after setting a target of 162 while batting first after winning the toss.

Mohit Kumar (best batsman), Sandeep Chabra (best bowler), Madhukar Mohan (best allrounder) and Aditya Priyadarsh­i (best young cricketer) were given special awards. THRILLING VICTORY

Youth Cricket Club (YCC) scored a thrilling three-run win against Nawab Cricket Club (NCC) and collected full points in the Under-16 Cricket Tournament, at the Christian College ground here on Wednesday. Despite scoring 81 for nine in 22 overs while batting first after winning the toss, YCC restricted NCC for 78 for nine in 22 overs.

RLYS VOLLEYBALL

Gorakhpur Head Quarters defeated Gorakhpur Workshop 25-20, 25-12 to win the Inter-Division Volleyball Tournament of the North Eastern Railway, at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium here on Wednesday.

CHESS TOURNEY

The Under-15 boys and girls district chess championsh­ip will be held on Saturday and Sunday, at the Bengali Club here. The event aims to pick eight-member team for the state championsh­ip to be held at Varanasi.

SACHIN SHINES

Sachin struck three goals as Golden Boys crushed RDSO by 6-1 to collect full points in the District Football League-2017, at the Chowk Stadium here on Wednesday.

Sachin struck in the eighth, 40th and 44th minute. Suraj scored in the 42nd and 46th minute, whereas Ravi Prabhakar had a goal in the 37th minute. For RDSO, Rishi struck the consolatio­n goal.

In the second match of the day, LDA Football Club brushed aside RK Sporting 2-0 with Sahil and Monty sharing the two goals between them.
