ALLAHABAD: In a bizarre case, the Holagarh police of trans-Ganga area in Allahabad have registered a complaint filed in the name of a person who died nine years back.

The incident came to light when the accused met senior officials on Thursday and pleaded for a fair inquiry.

The complaint was originally sent to the chief minister and reached Holagarh police station after it was forwarded to it by senior cops on July 19.

As per the complaint “made” by Payagdeen, Sumantlal and his son Manoj Tiwari abducted his (Payagdeen’s) son from his home in Dahiyawa village in the night of July 17. Payagdeen’s son Suresh Kumar is an area panchayat member.

Acting on the complaint, Holagarh police on July 19 registered a case of abduction against the accused without any investigation.

Sumantalal and Manoj, husband of Shraddha Tiwari, a block pramukh, were shocked over the FIR and approached inspector general (IG) Ramit Sharma on Thursday. An enquiry revealed that Payagdeen had died nine years back and even tehsil records had a mention of his death. Suresh Kumar and his family also denied making any such complaint.

SHO, Holagarh, Shailendra Singh said Suresh had gone on his own in the night of July 17 and returned the next day. The FIR has been expunged after receiving an affidavit from Suresh.

Taking serious note of the false complaint, SP trans-Ganga Sunil Singh said investigations have confirmed Payagdeen’s death and it seemed politics related to panchayat was behind the fake FIR. He said action would be initiated against the miscreants.
