4mn Krishna devotees’ ‘yatra’ aims to bring back the bullock-cart
ALLAHABAD: Four million Lord Krishna devotees from across India will take out the biggestever ‘yatra’ for reviving the ancient means of transport like bullock-carts, besides ending cow-slaughter.
International Society of Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) has taken this initiative to spread awareness about the benefits of reviving ancient means of transport that includes environment protection.
According to Venuvijay Das, vice president, ISKCON Allahabad, the yatra would also highlight the need for stopping killing of innocent people in the name of cows. “The yatra will pass through 22 states after beginning from Vrindavan in UP on March 3, 2018. It will end in Delhi. This 10-day Yatra will also highlight some major issues like organic farming based on the use of natural fertilizers prepared from cow’s urine and dung etc,” said Swami Narayan Dasji, convenor of the yatra.
Dasji was in Allahabad on Sunday to review preparations for this mega event, at ISKCON temple in Baluaghat. Presently

posted in Vrindavan, Dasji said 2000 volunteers and Krishna devotees from 200 districts would be trained for this yatra.
The procession would also comprise dozens of bullock-carts in order to show respect to cows and bulls.
“I visited Delhi recently and saw bullock-carts were still being used in some parts of old Delhi. If people in a place like Delhi could use bullock-carts then why not in other parts of India. It may be slow, but using bullock-carts also has numerous benefits, especially as far as environment is concerned. All yatras and processions at ISKCON are incomplete without a beautifully decorated bullock-cart. It symbolizes love for Lord Krishna,” he added.
Venuvijay Das added:“Everything related to cows is good for health and environment. We will be highlighting these points in the yatra.”
