Singer Manoj Tewari to perform at police lines
LUCKNOW: Janmashtami celebrations at Lucknow police lines would be special this time.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Delhi unit chief and singer Manoj Tewari would entertain the audience with some of his devotional and Bhojpuri songs during Janmashtami celebrations to be held at Lucknow police lines on August 15. Moreover, the celebrations this year will extend for two days with mushaira to be held on August 16.
“The Janmashtami celebration at police lines in Lucknow has always been a crowd puller due to its grand decorations, but it would be special this time with the presence of BJP MP and Bhojpuri singer Manoj Tewari,” said senior superintendent of police (SSP), Deepak Kumar. “I had a talk with the singer in detail over phone and finalised the programme after he confirmed his presence during the celebrations,” he said.
He said he is sure the singer’s presence will attract more crowd as Manoj is very popular in Hindi heartland of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The SSP said this year’s celebration would be a two-day affair and mushaira on August 16 will be an added feature. He said a multiple award winner poet Hari Om Pawar has confirmed his presence at the event and efforts are on to rope in popular Urdu poets Munnawar Rana and Wasim Barelvi.
He said the city police are leaving no stone unturned to make this year’s celebration a memorable one. He said other than the special performances, the students from some city schools and artistes of some local institutes will also perform during the event.
