‘Boycott Chinese rakhis to boost domestic trade’
RSS leader Indresh Kumar issued an appeal on Saturday to boycott Chinese rakhis and other products of China to safeguard interest of around three crore small Indian traders.
Indresh was in the state capital to preside over an event ‘Vishwa Rakshabandhan’ organised by Rashtriya Ekta Mission in which leaders of all religions took part.
Rakshabandhan is a Hindu festival which celebrates the bond of affection between brothers and sisters. “More than three crore small traders all across the country are adversely affected by glut of Chinese products in Indian markets,” Indresh told the media.
Expressing concern over Chinese hegemony, especially in South China Sea and Asia, Indresh issued an appeal to boycott Chinese products, especially rakhis on this Rakshabandhan.
“We must boycott Chinese rakhis on this Rakshabandhan and other products also to safeguard around three crore small Indian traders whose trade is affected by Chinese goods,” said Indresh. The RSS leader, however, could not give satisfactory reply when asked why the Modi government was not imposing anti-dumping duty on Chinese goods. After the BJP came to power at the Centre, boycott call of Chinese goods gained momentum. Indresh justified the Indian government’s standoff with China on the Dokhlam issue. “There is no need to be cowed down by Chinese threats. The Centre has taken a good decision to call Chinese bluff,” said Indresh. The RSS leader asserted that ultimately China would have no option but to call back its army.
Physically challenged students of Dr Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University and other institutes celebrated Rakshabandhan. They also enthralled the audience with songs. Later in the day, religious leaders of all communities attended the event.
